Ashes Blog Tour

FlyingBks_AshesOn February 26th From Ashes Into Light by Gudrun Mouw published here at Raincloud Press! It was a great day for our first fiction publication. A blog tour started on the 24th, and I’ve listed some of the highlights below. These are links to posts that have already happened, but there are another 6 weeks of activities! Find a link to the complete schedule below.

As I’m writing this, From Ashes Into Light is ranked #179 on the Kindle Metaphysical list. And people are starting to get word that Gudrun Mouw has written a dark-night-of-the-soul spiritual thriller that’s uplifting and transformative. Thank you to everyone who has helped with this project, including foremost the author herself who had to approve several rounds of editing. The main editor, Maxima Kahn, was an amazing guide bringing this narrative to fruition. I want to thank our Native American editor and readers, who wish to remain unnamed (because in an ideal world, White people wouldn’t write about Native American History which is invariably romanticized, but we followed their advice to make it less offensive to Native persons).  And, of course, there were many other behind-the-scenes members of the team designing the book, copy-writing, copy-editing, and midwifing the book into existence.

Reincarnation and Tolerance

Four Ways Exploring Reincarnation Can Help Dispel Hate

  •  If we come back lifetime after lifetime, then we are bound to have lives as both men, women, gay or transgender people, as Asians, Natives, Blacks, Latinos and Whites, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists. Think about this before you judge anyone.
  • If you are inexplicably drawn to someone, it may be you’ve known each other in a past life! These experiences cross social, racial and economic barriers. Don’t be afraid, see what the connection is.
  • Everyone has their own path for this lifetime. Often, things don’t work out exactly how we’d planned. Chances are, you have had lives both with great status and power, and with great need. Don’t waste time wishing things were different. When you reincarnate, it will be.
  • When we hold tightly to grudges, they can follow us into the next lifetime, lessening our happiness and creating conflicts. Clean up your emotional baggage now, and be kind to your future self.

Terrifying for the Racists

In a time of unimaginably hateful, fear-based crimes, readers seek books that help give a positive message and make sense of the chaos around them.  From Ashes Into Light is that balm to those who are sick of the violence and callowness reported in the news, but want relevant and contemporary topics.

In Gudrun Mouw’s forthcoming novel, From Ashes Into Light, the narrative plunges into the darkness, but always comes up for air. Through the alternating protagonists, we are immersed in new perspectives of the Holocaust, seen through a young Austria Jew, and of the enslavement and Genocide of the Native Americans, seen through a boy who successfully evades capture. A third protagonist, Friede, a white girl, a war-refugee, helps bring the suffering of the past into a contemporary perspective by experiencing the other two as past lives. Friede overcomes a terrifying childhood suffering at the hands of her father, an untreated PTSD-suffering veteran, and has help overcoming her personal history by integrating the history of the past. Her message is tolerance and being true to your own knowing.

From Ashes Into Light has about three months to publication. We are busy putting the finishing touches on the manuscript to get the tome to you on time! We have been sending out advance copies of our forthcoming novel From Ashes Into Light by Gudrun Mouw to journals, magazines and other media for review. The novel is going off to a final copyediting, then it’s time to proof the final hardcover version.

Rainbowcover44490Another tweaking of the cover was completed, to help convey the sentiments of the story, which include a contemporary, feminine and historical perspective. Advance copies are being offered on LibraryThing in November, and we look forward to hearing how the librarians receive this work and how they perceive the audience.

New Title

COVERjulySMALLMany thanks to advance reader and published poet Perie Longo for coming up with a new title for our forthcoming book. Once titled Out of the Ashes, it is now called From Ashes Into Light. We realized there were just too many other books with the same title as our first choice. Threw out the old title and old cover today. Sometimes it’s a good day for a new incarnation.

Our blurbs from advanced readers are starting to come in so stay tuned!
